I have been learning that topically comfrey root is much more potent. I harvested and dried some of it. Now I’m not sure what to do next. If anyone has any experience, I would appreciate your input. I’m thinking of powdering it and making a salve from that. Or maybe infusing it in oil and then using the oil for salve.

I usually use the leaves because I am too lazy to dig up the root. Having said that, the root is more potent than the leaves, especially going into winter and in the early spring. I would make a salve out of it for healthing EVERYTHING!

The root is a little stronger than the leaf but both are good. I like it as a tincture topically for things that don’t involve broken skin. That way it has really long shelf life. I also make it into lotions. There’s a good lotion recipe in the lotion lesson of the medicine making series.

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.
