While at work yesterday the yard person came running up to me. As he approached he grabbed the back of his neck and pushed a bunch of mud off. He then indicated to me that he had been stung by a wasp and maybe two in the same spot. He asked me to squeeze the sting to get the venom out.
I told him it was probably too late since the swelling, about the size of a half dollar by now, was already pretty far along. I told him I did not think I had anything herbal, but that I would go look. Sure enough, I did not find anything in my travel kit. I then got the prompting about my Arnica tincture. I have learned from experience in life, and from Patrick regarding herbs, to NOT ignore these promptings. I got a square of toilet tissue and put some of the tincture on it, placed it over the sting and instructed him that this is what I would do if I did not have plantain.
He then went out to his car to sit for a while. A short time later, 5 to 10 minutes, he was walking away from his car but not holding his neck. I inquired about the sting. He said all pain was gone and that he could feel that the swelling had reduced quite a bit. I took a look and sure enough it had gone down a bit more than 50% of what I had seen. I was pleasantly surprised. :woot:
A little later I heard him telling another co-worker (one that I have worked with quite a bit) about the situation.
I checked him before he left for that day and gave him another pad to put on it while he went home. No report of any adverse affects this morning.
WARNING!!!!! Arnica is a deadly poison and is only to be used EXTERNALLY.
