StudentWondering if anyone can help explain a recent reaction that I have had. For the last week I have been dealing with a sinus infection. I have used lemon balm, nettles, mallow, mullein, mint, and pine needles in tea blends over the course of time. This along with purple cone flower and some vitamins and minerals became a daily regimen. My wife convinced me to add an antibiotic part of the way in to speed up the process (she is a nurse). The other night during a coughing fit I woke and made some mint, nettle and mallow tea, hoping to calm the cough. While it was steeping I ate a spoon of peanut butter, something I have did hundreds of times before. I sat down and began sipping on the tea and within a few minutes my top lip started to swell. I was a bit baffled because I am not allergic to anything. Outside of some random event or spiritual warfare (there have been a lot of weird things happening to our family, I am a pastor) I am at a loss as to how this happened? Open to any medical explanation! I haven’t tried either since (tea or peanut butter) but will be doing so soon. Thanks in advance.

StudentThat is really odd. The only thing I can think to narrow it down would be to take each of the herbs individually to see if you have a reaction to any one of them, same with the peanut butter. How long had you been on the antibiotic before this happened? It’s possible that one of the herbs had a reaction with that

StudentI would agree with Greg that maybe it was an individual herb that caused an allergic reaction. I read that some people can react to nettles and one of the symptoms is severe and rapid swelling around the face, mouth, or throat, or under the skin. Is this your first time taking Nettles ?
