        Hello fellow herbalists!

From the sound of things, there is a cold/flu bug making its way across the country with very similar symptoms….sore throat, headache, cough, etc.  We had it hit our family over the past month here in Montana.  No one has displayed fever so far, so it seems more likely a cold rather than influenza.  All of us immediately hit the ShooFloo at the first sign of a scratchy throat, 3 times a day for about a week.  In the past, all symptoms would be gone in a day or two with the ShooFloo,  but not this time.  I do think it helped lessen the length and severity, but I’m curious if anyone else has found a different combo that has worked better with this current virus?  I have The Tree Amigos (Pine needle, Sweet Wormwood and Chaga) in tincture form ready to go in case we get hit with a mutated version of what we all just had.  Have any of you tried this combo this year? I’d love to hear what has been working for you this cold/flu season! Thank you!

          Hi Wendy,

I have a tincture mixture of Elderberry Leaf, Pine Needle, Boneset & Echinacea. I made the tinctures myself then mixed them together specifically to fight colds.  It has worked great so far on everything except what you are describing.  I will say my cold did not get into my chest so I had no coughing.  My husband got it a few days after me and it went to his chest within a couple days.  He didn’t take any herbs.  For the sore throat I put 3 drops of Tea Tree Essential Oil in 3 or so ounces of water and gargled it.  My husband used it too.  It has an anesthetic effect which was really helpful because it was a very painful sore throat.  I kicked the sore throat in 1-2 days.
