StudentDay 1 Newbie here – Curious as to what other’s “whys” are. Why did YOU finally make the decision to take this course?
I have been in the Natural Health Industry for 14ish years regarding commercial supplements and have always wanted to take an herbalism course. We are currently in the process of trying to move to our land in Vermont to homestead so the desire to have this knowledge has been growing even stronger. I’ve looked at several other courses but was turned off by some of the philosophies mixed in. I was so happy to find this one which aligns with my belief in God and the purpose of the plants he gave us, but still didn’t take the leap and sign up.
A few weeks ago my 5 year old had a medical issue. I self treated at home until I felt that she needed more intervention than I could give. Come to find out that the medical practice that our family physician ,who we have loved and trusted for over 10 years, is a part of is now denying our children care until we comply with a series of “childhood _____”. This came as such a shock as our Dr. parents the exact same way as we do when it comes to the medical decisions for his children however the practice as a whole has changed their policy. This is terrifying on many levels to me. After searching for days I found a new Dr to help, however this was the very push I needed to take the step to gain as much knowledge as I can to help care for my family and now I feel even more motivated and empowered.
So……What is YOUR why?

StudentHi Emily! My name is Kimberly and I just made a major move from Idaho to Missouri. My family and I wanted our own farm where I could have an herb garden in addition to our vegetable garden along with our many critters. I have been a nurse for almost 18 years and have been a nursing instructor the last 6. I have dabbled in Chinese medicine and essential oils, but I signed up for this course because honestly, I watched a YouTube video of Doc Jones explaining how herbs worked in the body. I teach nursing pharmacology and that is exactly how I teach, so I signed up that day. I am also a Christian and believe God has given us everything we need on this planet and I wanted to learn what they are. So, this program was perfect for me! It is very nice to meet you and I look forward to working with you in class.

StudentHi Emily – I am brand new to this forum. THANK YOU for openly admitting your Christian faith. I have had a passion for natural healing modalities for over 10 years now; and, as a 72 year old, have managed to take care of almost all of my ailments through an essential oil or other natural remedy. I am prescription free and determined to keep it that way!
God has given us so much healing and nutrition through plants. I have wanted to take a course on herbal medicine, but I have quickly come to realize that so many of the current practitioners openly speak about other philosophies in a way that I find to be very uncomfortable. I am so excited to find a course that is being led by someone that doesn’t worship mother earth and espouse other religious/political ideologies that I find to be abhorrent.
I am deeply concerned about the direction that our country is taking and I have been very active politically for over a decade to do all that I could to restore our nation to its founding principles. If the promised Great Reset/Collapse happens during my lifetime, I am encouraged that I will be able to become a resource to my family and community through my newly gained skills and knowledge.

Homestead InstructorI got involved with the school because a lot of really nice people kept insisting I create it.
I told them I didn’t have time because I had 15 kids and a solo vet practice and another business as well. They said they wanted to pay for the school in advance…before it was even started. They said I could just do a lesson here and there once a month or so. I told them they were crazy. They agreed and started enrolling.
So since they were really nice people , and had paid money up front for something that didn’t exist….I thought I better make it exist. It was tricky of them really. Anyway…that’s why I got involved. :0)

StudentI had been contemplating taking this course for about a week when I happened upon a video of Dr. Jones talking about the benefits of stinging nettle. I thought about the weed growing in the rocks by my townhome’s patio and wondered…is it stinging nettle? I used a plant identification app and sure enough it was! I thought, “Well, if this isn’t a sign I should take this class, I don’t know what is!”

StudentI have been here almost a year and it keeps getting better and better!
My interest in alternative medicine started with my mother’s death at 63 following several years of suffering after a bad drug reaction. Then my eldest daughter had repetitive ear infections and became allergic to most antibiotics. The surgeon who did get her straightened out (with the least amount of intervention) told me to look into alternative medicine so that in a life threatening moment, there would still be an antibiotic left to use for her. I discovered homeopathy and then Ayurveda.
Later, I moved to France and lived there for 22 years (18 of those in French Guiana which is a French “state” just north of Brazil where the European space station is located) where I learned a lot from the French homeopaths and also was introduced to essential oils. They take the potential dangers very seriously and the books list their principal constituents (ie never diffuse peppermint oil as it can negatively affect the nervous system) I also learned a fair amount about the tropical medicinal plants after I had a dream where I was told I must study plants!
Once back in the USA, I discovered Doc through the Grow Network and decided to take his course over other possibilities. His humor, common sense, vet and naturopath experience, lifetime access and the Wound management module as well are the factors that convinced me. I am glad I did !
So that’s my why !

StudentI truly believe that God has given us all we need on earth to survive, it is a matter of learning about his creation. In general we have moved toward the “band aid cures”. I have been interested in herbs and natural alternatives for many years. I was raised not to question doctors or medical treatments, but after my second daughter has a reaction to a v@x and then a couple of months later was prescribed a medication that she was too young to be taking, I figured out that maybe doctors make mistakes and there maybe another way of doing things. I started a journey to figure out what I believed based on my research, not what I was told to believe.
I now have 5 kids and it has been a slow process but I have learned over the years not to rush to the doctor’s office but to try some alternatives first. I am thankful for our medical system and the role that is plays in certain situation, but prefer for it to be used sparingly.
I am looking forward to learning more about these amazing herbs!
This is my why!

StudentI have had similar experiences to what you have described with our current medical system and have found out that the knowledge of what plants can be used to help our family and others is a great benefit to our society. I have 8 kids and a very busy work schedule so I figure my time will also be a slow progression.

StudentAs a wife, mother and now grandmother I have always wanted to take the best care of my family. I learned a lot from my mother who had little money but lots of knowledge. I remember a happy healthy childhood that only went wrong when there was medical intervention. I grow lots of herbs and use them all the time in cooking.
I happened across Doc on the Homesteading Family and miraculously he gave me a way to support a chronic problem my husband has (caused by medical intervention. My husband was very sceptical but now is really grateful for the tincture he uses. It has changed the quality of his life immeasurably. After that signing up to the school was a no-brainer. I work full time and I have to take things slowly to fit in with everything else I do – but I am loving it and learning so much.
That was a fabulous question. -

StudentI’m an RN, former EMT, and former firefighter. I guess you could say I’ve always been interested in healing and helping. I was doing clinicals for nursing school in a pediatric office while pregnant with my oldest child. One day, I was researching the meds I was giving – as we were taught in nursing school to do – and when I brought up something I learned, the pediatrician said, “That’s not true. Where did you hear that?” I held up the drug insert (that comes with the drugs, for the provider to read and understand) and said, “Right here.” When I realized this pediatrician had never read the insert for this drug, given on a daily basis in his practice, I realized I didn’t want to blindly trust others for my baby’s healthcare. That was the major turning point for me. Now my family jokingly calls me “doctor mama,” and I handle the vast majority of our health concerns. I am very excited to learn more; I feel I’ve only nicked the tip of the iceberg of herbal healing!

StudentI love your post Emily and have really enjoyed reading all the other comments. I have been asked ‘why’ for almost my entire married life as we have raised our family in the country on a small homestead, homeschooled six children for thirty years and tried to avoid trips to the doctor as much as possible (but were thankful they were there for us when we needed them.) I have studied a few different modalities for healing and just want to have a variety of tools available when I need them. I was raised with my mother using herbs, so I know a little bit (enough to be dangerous probably) but when we wrapped up school for the kids a few years ago I knew I needed to pursue my interest in using and growing herbs. I’ve worried that I don’t have enough brain cells left to do more school but as I watch Dr. Jones on You Tube with all of his knowledge and the wonderful way he presents what he’s teaching, it has given me confidence to jump in and learn as much as I can from him and all of you. It feels like it’s the next best step and I’m happy to be part of this community.

StudentI went on an ayahuasca retreat 5 years ago in Spain. I began to learn about plants and their specific healing properties, how many of them contain alkaloids which only benefit people or mammals and give no benefit to those plants which produce them. It was a major eye opener to realise that these plants are here to help and to discover that I could have a personal relationship with them.
After waking up in hospital last September after suffering a heart attack, dying, being revived after 55 minutes and being in an induced coma, stuffed full of anti biotics and various other horrific drugs, I have been treating myself for the damage caused to my various bodily systems by the medical system.
I am getting steadily better, but I am here to learn more and to help others.

StudentPut simply, I feel “called” to this. I feel I am being “called” to help people learn how to be more involved in their personal health, and be better equipped to make informed choices about the best way to heal themselves.
The long story is, affordable, quality healthcare is not always accessible to everyone all the time, or at all times in their lives. A lot of rural people live so far away from medical services, that things like slicing your finger while cooking Christmas dinner during a blizzard means someone in your home needs to know how to fix you up, or things can go quite sideways!
The long story is, even as I type this, there are hundreds of people living in their vehicles, in the desert and the forests of this country, and stuff happens- and they are over an hour away from a doctor, and/or they don’t have money to get help. Not to mention those nomads with pets who can’t afford to seek veterinary care, which is also an hour away. But knowing what plants are around you, that you can use to help yourself and others, can be life-saving.

StudentDuring 2019 but especially 2020 God gave my soul a hunger (and a kick in the pants) for knowledge of healthier, nutrient dense, and more readily available and sustainable wild foods and medicines choices for my family. I would go sit outside and see all the beautiful green beauties surrounding me and my mind was just blown and saddened with how little I knew of them. So far it’s been one of the most fulfilling and most enjoyable studies that I have immersed myself in. Very much enjoying the classes on HGH!

StudentHi all! I am new here today. I can relate to many things you all have said. Why herbalism? I too feel a call or more of a push by the Spirit to learn about herbal medicine. I have the desire to be able to use herbs for healing rather than pharmaceuticals that may do harm or may not be available. (I have also been awakened to the fact that a lot of our pharmaceuticals are produced by “enemy” countries; how in the world did this even happen and why would we as a people trust this?) I want to be able to provide for my family and potentially my community should it come to that. Why this school? I was first introduced to Doc Jones through Homesteading Family. Then again through the School of Traditional Skills. And still again through YouTube. (God is gradually nudging me in the right direction here.) I am an analyst by nature and profession so I did a side-by-side comparison of this and several schools. I asked questions (Thank you, Danica!). I prayed. And finally God revealed this to be the one for sure. Solidfied by Doc’s forthright discussion of his belief in God and the Spirit’s direction in his life. I too did not agree with some of the philosophies behind the other schools. So here I am hoping to learn in a more methodical and complete approach then devouring books and youtube videos. Can’t wait to get started and hope to build knowledge ad confidence.

StudentHello Emily!
My “why?” to enroll in this program is the result of a few realizations. One being that big pharma doesn’t fix problems, they just treat symptoms. Great for repeat business, but not so much for better health. I have also come to the belief that the majority of medicine prescribed by doctors are more toxic to the body than beneficial, ultimately creating more problems than that which is being treated. I also believe that God provides us with everything we need, which doesn’t include chemical medications.Very much looking forward to this new journey!

Hippocrates' Garden
StudentWhy? What’s the character limit for a post?
Many things over the years. Somehow I ended up at the college my father graduated from, even though at the time I really wanted to go to Auto/Diesel school and build hotrods. After a few fits, starts and diversions I found myself walking across a stage and being handed a Degree in Psychology. So, went and did that for awhile, had a bad employment experience at a dual diagnosis private hospital, went to a physical rehab hospital doing neuropsych testing, ended up in an even worse employment situation, so went into I.T. for international companies for 15 years.
Hit by one of many rounds of “downsizings”, and realizing my parents were aging, I’d have to care for or at least direct their care likely, and that even though I had a BS in psych, i was now a nerd, and doctors/nurses don’t listen to nerds. During that time I was also a Firefighter, EMT and parttime LEO among other things.
Did an LPN program, and started working in Hospice. It was pretty good mostly and eventually was talked into going RN, so finished an associate’s RN program, at which point, my employer’s policy of RN’s having to be BSN or higher kicked in (regardless of how good of an LPN employee I had been, and that I had a BS in another healthcare field). Since I was weary of nursing school and refused to sign up for a BSN program, I lost my job there, so went over to the Medical ER of the large hospital system in Memphis. Good experience, but working the ER where most of the patients were just wanting a body shop, meaning they wanted to beat their bodies up and then come to us for a pill/potion/lotion or procedure so they could go back and do more damage, I was just depressed.
Somewhere in there I did a clinic with Remote Area Medical, which is a free clinic for those with no other healthcare. I was pared with an oral surgeon and assisted with tooth extractions, in the gym of a church for 2 days. What really got me was, all the legal paperwork required, to do an invasive procedure, fit on one side of a standard notecard. Since money and insurance was not involved, that was it.
And then so many other situations culminating in “Health” the debacle of 2020 and after.
When my parents and I all came down with the latest pandemic, I had only had one of the experimental procedures, reluctantly, just because I feared a parent would end up in the hospital, and otherwise I’d not be allowed in (or I would get in, and the incident would be front page news, never good).
I had done a bit of reading and such, and just for funsies, we having sweetgum trees around started an extract from fresh seed balls. Interestingly, right at the 6 week mark is when I began to have symptoms. I used aspirin for the fever, and 2-3 doses of sweetgum extract (hope that’s the right term, crushed seedballs in 100 proof etoh). I can’t prove it helped, but it certainly did not seem to have any adverse effects and after 4 days, the major symptoms had abated and I began to seriously recover.
Continued experiences with our U.S. Medical Insurance profit funding system has me planning on staying as far away from that system as possible, unless there is surgical procedure required or the like. To do this, I need knowledge and experience.
And that.. is my Why.
And associated with why I call my Nursing efforts “Hippocrate’s Garden” focusing on encouraging others to learn about healthy food, chemical free food, how to source it, or grow it and consume it, because we cannot poison our way to health, and this is simply another facit of that effort.
Now, if only I could get people to learn how to say “Hippocrates” correctly (and with the right southern drawl)

StudentQuick followup thought.
After two different EMT programs, LPN and RN… as well as a few years of “practice”, I felt I knew almost nothing about medicine, healthcare or nutrition. What I did know how to do quite well was take blood, give poisons and chart. Boy did I know how to chart.
But how many of my patients ever ceased needing to take some kind of “medicine”? none. And then when I was really seeing the preschool age kids getting on my bus (yeah even drove school bus a couple years), with their “breakfast” of hot fries and Gatoraid, only to get to school for a 2nd breakfast (wait, isn’t that a Hobbit thing?) of whatever cellophane wrapped “food product” the school had from a USDA program, I had had enough.

StudentWhat’s my why? I think that many can relate to the fact that in the last couple of years my eyes have been opened. I come to you as a medical professional that has lost her ability to work due to vaccine requirements. My dissapointment in the medical community as a whole has been a shock to the system, but also a needed push to learn as much as I can, not only for my health, but the health of my community. I grew up in a very typical childhood of someone born in the late 70’s. We grew up with completely surviving off of “food” bought from the store and highly processed. As I have grown older and found a love for all things gardening, and processing my own harvests to eat, I have realized the difference in my physical health as a added bonus. Lifelong gastrointenstinal issues, skin issues and many other inflammatory issues have improved. The same things that when I went to my family Dr was met with, “I don’t know. All of your tests look fine”. So I am on a quest to learn all that I can to see what GOD has already worked out and provided for us and how to best utilize that.
Great question! Best of Luck and Health to all of us!

I am a purist in many other aspects of my life, and I feel that going to the root source of many of these ingredients will be the best for me. I want to take care of my family as best I can and let my training here be my contribution to helping my family and myself live a fulfilling life.
My mother passed away in the hospital, and it was so chaotic and such a cruel environment. It was so traumatic. I want to learn alternatives or ways to avoid going to the hospital in the first place.

StudentHi Emily! Brand new here…my why is that i feel that God has put so much around us that is beneficial, if we but learn to use it. I find peace in the woods or on the water, and it brings me joy and comfort when i see natural remedies helping so much. I love to learn and want to know more about my “friends” that i see on my walks, or even just sitting out by my pond. StudentMy Why?
I’ve been interested in all things natural for sometime. We’ve made lots of changes, but we are/were dependent on medicine for so much. I saw a session/podcast/talk with Dr Patrick on the Homesteading Family youtube channel and it sparked an interest in herbs. I have been reading and watching videos for awhile now, but never pulled the trigger. My daughter and I fell ill last week and I became frustrated. I expressed to my husband how frustrated I was. I told him I knew there were herbs and other natural things to aid in our healing, but didn’t know how to use them. I was frustrated with myself, because I knew this course was available to help and I hadn’t signed up yet. So my hubby signed me up as a Mother’s Day gift!

StudentHi Everyone!
I became unwell after having my son and have been ping ponging around the medical systems (intermittently) trying to find a root cause and a cure for 20 years (That baby is headed to 6’1″ now and can easily tuck me under his arm). I’m tired of modern medicine, I’m tired of feeling disempowered and I love growing plants. I found an alternative practitioner that is helping me heal and I fell over a Doc Jones video on Youtube, so here I am, ready to learn, become empowered and finish my healing journey.

StudentMy “why?”…. Well, like many I guess it’s a long story, but I’ll try to make it short for here. I’ve always had a curiosity for growing things, farming, self- sufficient lifestyle, nature and animals. I love that God created it all and enjoy learning about it. Herbs and their uses are fascinating, and I like the idea of working with my body in a natural way. About 11 years ago things really took a turn for me. I worked in the health care field at that time and realized that most of the people I cared for could have been a lot better off if they had taken care of their bodies long before they ended up where they were. I started to see that preventative care and maintenance was better, in my opinion, than reactive care. I also became very discouraged with the healthcare system because I saw the greediness of a few individuals and a few experiences I had myself when I needed care and just completely got sick of it. So I started looking for other options, ones I could do myself for my own health. I first started learning and using essential oils but wanted to know more and use herbs in all different ways instead of just one. I wanted to learn how to apply the right herb in the right way to get the most benefit out of it. I also wanted to be able to help others who were interested in a more natural approach, but I wanted to make sure that I had the right knowledge to do so. I wouldn’t dare want to be responsible of hurting someone because I didn’t have the right knowledge so I started looking at schools where I could learn, for my own health and anyone else that may come along and ask. But like most things, I needed to find something that was great quality but within my budget. So I’m here. Doc’s school is great, works with my busy schedule and affordable. Which is what I needed with a full time job, a homestead and family that depends on me for their care. This is my next step on my journey and what a journey it has been!

StudentHi my name is Tracie. I live in Maryland. My sister-in law is in to essential oils and all the great things they do. I became curious that if an oil from a plant is so good what could the whole plant do for the body. So my interest grew from there and I am here in this course to learn even more. I am starting to look at plants very differently than before. For example, the dandelion. My neighbor can’t stand them, but I just smile knowing how beneficial they are to us. I can’t wait to learn a lot more.

Knowing a bit about Pharmacology and the past few years. I decided I wanted to get more into natural healing and better health with herbs and nutrition.

StudentHi there! I come from a long line of natural healers and midwives. This family knowledge has been lost over the last two generations or so. Part of why I’m taking this course is because I want to revive the knowledge in my family and be able to teach it to my sons, who are 2 and 4.
I’m also taking this course because, like many, I believe conventional drugs are often over-prescribed and that nature offers much of what we need to encourage our bodies to heal.
Health and plants are two things I’ve always been interested in, and this course combines the two perfectly for me.

StudentMy why–I have always been concerned with what is in prescriptions and over the counter drugs. I have always felt that everything started from plants so let’s get back to the source. I have always looked for a good sources of information. I got introduced to Dr. Jones through his wife as our midwife for a short period of time. Being a horticulturalist and loving plants and looking for a good way to learn how to use them with the fun approach that Dr. Jones brings brought me to this course. I feel that God has been pushing me to obtain this information.

StudentI heard Dr Jones lecture at the Modern Homesteading Conference and throughout both of his lectures I just kept having people’s faces pop in my mind that could be helped by what he was talking about. I figured that they probably would never learn any of this, so if they were going to see improvements, I would need to learn what I could so I could help them.
Plus, plants are cool.

StudentHello!! I am new too. Nice to meet you!
Years ago, my husband was dealing with health issues and God led us to someone who used homeopathic/herb medicine and he was completely healed within 1 month. It blew us away to realize that God had put powerful medicine in the earth that was not tapped into in modern medicine and that He designed our bodies in a specific way to heal with the earth. Mind blowing!
Today, we are elderberry farmers and homesteaders and we are passionate to see more people whole and well. We also foster children and I have been so excited to learn about herbal medicine to help with various health challenges they experience.

StudentHello Everyone – Like many of you I’m in healthcare – a DVM, I’ve spent years using western medicine and dabbling in herbal medicine when western medicine didn’t have a good answer or option. I love plants and my garden is my happy place, so I’m excited to see how my happy place can help my family and my patients live better lives.

StudentBeen a subscriber of the You Tube channel for awhile now and love the content. I’m interested in most things homesteading, and all things plant related. Wish I had known any of this while raising my now nearly grown children, but there is still time to learn and pass things onto them to help with them raising kids in the future.

StudentI have been interested in learning about healing and response in emergencies for a couple of years, specifically natural healing. So my “why” is that I desire the knowledge and skills to feel confident that I could handle an emergency well and have the knowledge of the plants God has given us for healing, prevention, and overall wellness and use them well.
So excited about what this course holds and thankful to have the opportunity to go through it!1 user thanked author for this post.

StudentWow! This thread has so many good stories. As far as my “why,” I finished high school last year and then did another health certificate. Being raised on a homestead, we knew some about herbal remedies and I had seen some pretty dramatic successes. In this time as I try to decide whether or not to do college, I figured this would be a good was to expand my knowledge!

StudentGreat question and lovely reading all the responses! As for my why, I want to learn about the herbs, weeds, and plants growing naturally all around me. I would love to be able to identify them and understand their uses, and in some cases potential dangers. Overall, I want to have a better understanding of ways in which I can care and heal myself naturally, so that I am better informed to care for my family and more importantly, pets 🙂

StudentHi, and thank you for the conversation. I, too, decided that I wanted an alternative to the current commercialized and politicized medical system. Trained in massage therapy a couple decades ago, I have seen the difference that can be made by using more holistic methods of health care. I have used aromatherapy for as many years, using it to boost my innate healing capabilities. I really didn’t realize that there was a whole area of health care based on plants until just a few months ago. I dove in! I watched Doc Jones’ videos on YouTube until I ran out of new ones to watch. I like his approach and don’t experience the apprehension I do with some other herbalism approaches. I hope to learn and comprehend herbalism for the benefit of my family and friends who also want an alternative to our “normal” medical system.

StudentHi, Emily.
I know you posted this thread about a year ago, but it’s a great question! I had begun questioning practices within the medical establishment for years for a couple different reasons. I began a real interest in herbal medicine last year when I refused to take a medicine my doctor recommended because the side effects were so bad. So I began looking for alternative aids, and began using herbs, which were slowly helping. I began to wonder if I could find some herbal medicine to get off the prescriptions my husband and I were taking daily. Then in February my husband broke his hip. I ordered some comfrey tincture and sprayed that on his hip several times a day for the first few weeks and he healed very quickly! I told his orthopedist what we were doing and she suggested another herb too! Since then I have been reading and learning what I can, with some guidance from my husband’s aunt, who I recently found out has studied herbalism for years, and using medicinal herbs. But I decided I wanted an in depth, organized course of study because I don’t want to be scrambling to find what will help in a given situation. I want to be able to evaluate and respond with confidence and clarity. And I want to have the knowledge to help myself and my family. I chose this course for few reasons: theological views (there is so much paganism everywhere in the herbal community & I wanted to avoid that from instructors!), the depth of the classes covered, and the exceptional background knowledge of Doc Jones. The online platform suits my schedule, and the cost was reasonable as well.

StudentHi Emily — Thank you for the great question. I am enjoying reading everyone’s responses. I have been interested in health and healing through nutrition for many years. I’m excited to learn how to recognize and use the many wonderful plants God has graciously provided and one day to be able to help others with this knowledge. Thank you Doc Jones for sharing your years of experience and vast knowledge with us.

StudentHi! I’m brand new here — literally my first day, and I’m super excited. This is my senior year of high school, so I’m probably the youngest one here. I’ve been interested in herbs and natural healing for several years now. My mom is too. She’s really encouraged my enthusiasm and is the reason I’m able to take this course. I’ve read Rachel Weaver’s book ”Be Your own Doctor”, and she opened my eyes to the wonders of natural healing and the sad reality of the state of the medical system. I’m absolutely thrilled by the way God has provided everything we need to take care of ourselves and others, in spite of the curse. He’s so gracious and compassionate! I can’t wait to learn more about His creation and how to use what He has given us. I want to be capable of taking care of those whom He has placed in my life to love and protect. I really like that this course is online, covers so much (Dr. Jones has so much knowledge and experience!), gives me lifetime access, and nooo deadlines. 🙂 And the fact that Dr. Jones is a Christian is just fantastic! Thank you so much. You’re a huge blessing.

StudentHi Elena! Good to know I’m not the only young person here! 🙂 I feel like herbalism isn’t a common interest among a lot of my peers, so it’s exciting to get to meet another ”kindred spirit”. Were you homeschooled, by any chance?

StudentThat is so true! When my other friends are on college or on mission trips, they’re like, “What, you’re learning about home remedies!” It’s so hard to explain that it’s not just grandma giving me her favorite flu treatment–it’s actually in depth studying for like a certificate. Yep, I was homeschool all the way through! I guess you were too?

StudentHey Rowan,
Super happy you chimed in! We’ve got a little group here of young people who are doing some less traditional and more useful education (in my opinion). That’s just great that you were homeschooled too. Self-paced courses are great for homeschooled people because they actually have the motivation to complete them! 🙂

StudentIt’s been of interest for years, but it seems time to do something new in my life. The way so many things are going, it seems quite prudent to know how to treat things herbally. That’s my super short answer 🙂
