Hello all, I found some White Vervain (Verbena urticifolia) in my yard. I researched a ton to try and figure out if it has the same use as Blue Vervain (Verbena hastata). Every website I look at seems to be talking about the (hastata) as a medicinal and not the (urticifolia). None of my identification books have it in them just Verbena officinalis. I know it is in the same family but not sure if I can use it? Does anyone have an information or experience on the use of White Vervain (Verbena urticifolia)?

First, always make sure for certain that the plant you’re looking at is the plant you think it is.

That said, there is some overlap in the herbal actions of V. hastata and V. urticifolia. Both are good for respiratory infections and as a diaphoretic for fevers. V. Hastata is a bit more sedating and may be a bit better for GI issues.

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.
