        Doc Jones,

I’m wondering if the white willow in the kit I bought on Saturday at your seminar is the same as willow and used for headaches, etc? If so is the dose 10 drops/how often?

I remember hearing Doc say that all the willows were essentially the same. If it were me I would have to start with a bit stronger dose as I have a high tolerance for most medicines. 10 drops would be a good place to start, I would think, unless you were having a monster headache.

Yes white willow is the Herbal equivalent of aspirin. 10-30 drops of the tincture is a good place to start.

or just pick a young, green part of the branch and chew on the sucker! 😮

I have also learned that aspen, poplar and cottonwood are in the same group with similar aspirin properties.

Balm of Gilead in the Bible is poplar bark.

In the lecture video, it is mentioned that willow bark has the same properties as aspirin. I have heard that aspirin is the synthetic derivative of willow bark. My questions is, does using willow bark have an adverse affect on the liver like aspirin does?

Is the bark of all willows medicinal in the same way as the willow tree bark? (There are several willows (look like mature willow shoots) growing alongside the canal near my property that I’m hoping I can use. They are several years old.)

                        Thank you!

Hi, ALL willows have the same medicinal properties. Also, aspen and several trees do others do as well. Spirea, which is a flowering shrub, is the namesake for aspirin. The whole upper plant (mainly the leaves) is the medicine.

Yup. Any willow will work as will birch, poplar and aspen.

Do make sure that the canal water is a clean source. There are sometimes lots of agricultural chemicals and fertilizers running through canals.

I like creeks better for willow gathering.

OH! I missed the canal part. Based on what I know about irrigation canals I would totally avoid harvesting anything within their seepage range.

Thanks. I did not know canals were so bad.
