I just wildcrafted some cedar berries (single seed) and I don’t know if they have to be ripe?  Is that a thing?  They are this season’s berries and are moist when I open them up.  Is there a particular time of year that is best to harvest these?  Also, do I need to chop them up or dry them before making a tincture?

Harvest juniper or cedar berries when they’re ripe (Blue-ish or purple-ish)

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.

I have a lot of juniper trees and I’m planning on harvesting them this year. As Doc Jones said they are ripe when they are purple. I read that you dry them and then crush them. I assume you can then use them for tea or a tincture. I don’t know if you can make a powder out of them.
