I have some 70 proof rum in the closet that my son had years ago. Wondering if I could use it to make a tincture.

70 proof is on the line of having enough alcohol to be preservative. I always use 80-100 proof.
If you do use the 70, only do it with dry herbs.
Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.
