StudentI just finished the “Basic Principles of Herbal Medicine” lesson. I found the Yin and Yang section so interesting! I don’t believe in self healing per say; I believe that God has given us everything we need to be healed naturally, but only through him. The whole concept made so much sense to me. It makes herbs less intimidating to learn about and use!

Homestead InstructorI’m glad you enjoyed it Jezreel. There are a lot of things we can learn from folks that are culturally/philosophically different than us. Chinese medicine has some principles that we would do well to explore and use. The fact that the folks who discovered those principles and techniques explained them from a very different cultural/religious paradigm doesn’t mean there isn’t a lot of truth there. They used metaphors and analogies and such to explain what was happening that made sense to their Ancient Chinese minds.
Research scientists that don’t give a hoot about culture, philosophy, religion, history, etc… have tested Chinese herbs and acupuncture and things and have found them to be very effective.
I’ve learned lots of amazing things over the years from people with whom I disagree on lots of topics. The key is to use good discernment and to not be in a hurry to throw out the baby with the bath water. :0)
Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.

StudentHello Jezreel, I am currently studying Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture. I too have seen the way God has made everything interconnected.
it just makes sense that there is a circular pattern to every aspect of health and healing. It is so fascinating to be able to study these ways of healing.
