What is the best treatment for ticks? They’ve been horrible this year, to the point where I am considering using pharmaceuticals on my dog (German shepherd mix, approx 9). Are there any natural alternatives, or is prescription tick med the best option? Would likely use Nexguard. Any tips or anecdotes would be greatly appreciated!

I just thought I would mention, I learned this year that a vaccine for Lyme Disease is available. If you live in an area where those kinds of ticks are a real concern, or like to take your dogs camping to areas where ticks that carry Lyme Disease are a problem, you might want to ask your veterinarian for more information and guidance about it. I got it for my dog.
